• Nice contemporary Indian restaurant

  The Spice Gallery in North Petherton is my local indian restaurant. It appears very modern from the outside and inside the restaurant has good quality contemporary furnishings. One of the first things I noticed was the background music. No indian music to be found here, just mixes of relaxing modern tunes piped around the restaurant at just the right volume.The service is excellent, polite staff very keen to assist and I have never felt rushed. Okay, now on to the food.. From a selection of dishes I find the quality of the food to be excellent and consistant. I recommend the chicken madras or chicken bhuna, both with very tasty chicken and spices. The presentation is the best I've ever seen in an indian restuarant. Alot of care and attention is put in to how the food looks, I love the square plates.One thing I have noted is that when eating in, the rice portions are half what they are when taking away. This makes the take away option quite appealing as if you spend over £10 you also get 10% off! The price for an average 2 person take away is around the £20 mark (2 currys, 2 rice, 2 naans and 4 poppadoms). This is not cheap, and if sitting in the drink prices will tot up the bill dramatically. This is its only down point, but I don't mind paying a little extra for such good service for such a good local restaurant.
